Zweite Myoli Suppenküche in Kooperation mit Women for Peace

On behalf of our organisation, i would like to extend our gratitudes, joy and happiness for the great food donation towards our Soup kitchen program as from last week. This donation was well received and appreciated by the Management, staff and beneficiaries Women for Peace and this is a great support to us as we are working very hard since the National lockdown has been announced in March. We have decided to stand up, not to fold our hands during this sad time of Covid -19 pandemic attack around the world.

As our Soup kitchen program has been initiated since 2017, with the support from Forderverein Khayelitsha (Elise Elsing), feeding elderly, vulnurable women, disabled people unemployed youth and Afterschool care kids, but when the lockdown started, we had a big challenge of getting a high numbers of beneficiaries coming to our centre for food including small kids as from the age of 3 years upwards as the creches and schools are also closed. We had to go out and ask for more food donations from our local shops to add to what we have, but it is not easy.

Now that we got more help from you, it’s going to make a big difference to our centre and also add more value. We are now feeding more than 300 people per day, Monday- Friday and we are trying all our best to accomodate them all. We are also distributing food parcels and second hand clothes that we collect sometimes to the elderly and disabled people. Our beneficaries are also getting education around prevention of this pandemic, social distancing and lifeskills workshops. Women for Peace offer many skills to these people like sewing, painting, art & craft, visual art, pottery and food gardening. By doing this, we are creating jobs for our youth, want them to start their own businesses, also become economically independent.

Thank you again for your continued support, may God give you more strength in doing good work especially to our vulnerable communities.
